My vehicle has a vibration, could it be the propshaft?
Yes, but there are several other possible causes of this problem.
If you take the vehicle off road you may have damaged or bent one of the propshafts.
If the vibration has come on gradually then it is likely to be due to progressive wear, this could be in the universal joints, sliding splines or even the midship assembly including the centre bearing.
If the vibration has come on quite quickly then it is likely to be a universal joint or centre bearing that is breaking up. It is worth checking for obvious signs of failure and taking remedial action as soon as possible.

The vehicle developed a vibration after we changed the clutch / gearbox - why would that be?
This is most common after overhaul of the machine or vehicle. If the propshaft has been removed, it may not have been put back together with the splines in their correct alignment. As the propshafts are balanced as a complete assembly, alteration of the configuration will alter the propshaft balance.

How can I find out what is wrong with my propshaft?
We recommend that you arrange to have your propshafts checked and balanced, where we can investigate all of the possible causes of your vibration. We can carry out any necessary repairs and balance your propshafts to the highest possible standard. Only when you have eliminated the propshafts can you move on and examine other possible causes.
